Organic agriculture in Ukraine has a good development potential due to favorable climatic conditions and fertile soils. Over the last few years, important foundations have already been laid for the expansion of organic agriculture in Ukraine. The sector can contribute to a secure food supply, economic development and environmental sustainability in the long term. Already today, large proportions of the organic products imported into Germany come from Ukraine - including wheat, grain maize and sunflowers.

In the future, the German and European markets will increasingly depend on imports due to a steadily rising demand for organic food. In Ukraine, too, consumer interest in organically produced food is growing. To exploit the market potential, organic products must meet high quality standards. In order to promote the further development of the sector, not only effective control mechanisms, but also sustainably established education and training structures are of great importance. The German-Ukrainian cooperation project supports private and public actors in Ukrainian organic agriculture.
