Event with high-ranking representatives from Ukraine and the EU on February 12, 2025 at Biofach in Nuremberg.

Despite the Russian war of aggression that has been going on for 3 years, Ukrainian organic farms manage every year to grow high-quality organic products in their fields and to market them successfully both at home and abroad. More than 400 farms in Ukraine are certified according to the European organic regulation. Since August 2023, more than 260 organic farms have also been recognized according to the Ukrainian organic farming regulation. At Biofach, 25 Ukrainian companies will be offering their product range on a large joint stand. A great success!

The congress at Biofach now offers the additional opportunity to get a compact impression of the performance of Ukrainian organic companies in 75 minutes. Under the title “Ukraine's Organic Sector in the EU Integration Process – Challenges, Opportunities, and Post-War Resilience”, several representatives of trade and politics from Ukraine and the EU will provide information on the current situation in Ukraine, trade and also the political and administrative framework. These include:

  • Olga Trofimtseva, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine from 2016-2019, who will give a keynote speech at the beginning of the event;
  • Jan Plagge as President of IFOAM Organics and
  • Marianna Paolino, representative of the DG Agri of the EU Commission.

In addition, various representatives of Ukrainian organic companies and organic organizations, Sergiy Galashevsky as Managing Director of the organic control body “Organic Standard” and a representative of a trading company from Germany that imports organic products from Ukraine, will appear on two panels.

The event will take place on February 12th at 2 p.m. in the Shanghai room as part of Biofach in the East Exhibition Center of the Nuremberg Trade Fair. Simultaneous translation from English to Ukrainian will be provided. The event is organized by the two projects “German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Farming”, which is funded by the German Ministry of Agriculture, and the Swiss-Ukrainian Programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP) implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland), funded by the Swiss country.
