On the initiative of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, within the framework of the implementation of the Law of Ukraine No. 2496-VIII "On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Circulation and Labeling of Organic Products", on August 31, 2021, the Second online webinar on the creation of the State Register of Organic Seeds and Planting Material in Ukraine was held – with the joint support of the Project "German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture" (COA) and the Swiss-Ukrainian Program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP).
In particular, numerous representatives of the seed sector of Ukraine as well as international seed companies participated in the webinar to inform them about the latest legal requirements in Ukraine on the establishment and future implementation of the State Register of Organic Seeds and Planting Material in Ukraine.
On the basis of a presentation on this topic Mrs. Valentyna Zayets, Head of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Organic Production at the Directorate of State Policy in the Field of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, presented the future requirements.
The questions of seminar participants were answered during a lively discussion by Valentyna Zayets as well as by Dr. Stefan Dreesmann, the Team leader of the project "German-Ukrainian Cooperation Organic Agriculture" (COA).
The event was moderated by Oleksandr Kaliberda, National Long-Term Expert of the Project "German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture" and Natalie Prokopchuk, Organic Component Coordinator of the Swiss-Ukrainian Program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP).
With this successfully held second webinar, a further foundation stone was laid for the establishment of the future registers for organic agriculture in Ukraine.
