On June 18, 2019, during the meeting of the Working Group on Organic Production Development was held an awarding of certificates to training participants from the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The training "Introduction to Organic Market Operators Inspection and Control" was held on May 20 - 22, 2019 in Mykhailyky village, Shyshatskiy district, Poltava region.
The training was conducted by an international expert Dr. Antonius Voltering (Head of the Department of the State Agency for Nature, Environmental Protection and Consumer Rights of North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) and Member of the Federal Commission of Germany on the Organic Agriculture Committee in Brussels), as well as leading specialists in quality certification and standardization from the certification body Organic Standard Sergiy Bondarev, Ivan Havran, Vasily Shukalovich and Lesya Lushpenko.
The main purpose of the event was to make the representatives of the State Consumer Service familiar with the basic functions of state control (supervision) within the framework of the Organic Law. The training participants learned the principles of inspection and control of organic operators and learned how to apply audit methods such as document verification, interviews and field visits.
In addition to the training seminar in the premises, participants attended a hands-on training course in groups of 5 people. Within 3 days, each group participated in 4 thematic seminars (= 4 stages):
- Plant growing
- animal breeding
- Processing and traceability
- Documentation
Each thematic seminar was conducted under the guidance of a national expert. As part of the practical approach, participants were familiarized with inspection documents, such as operator's profile, inspection checklists, and other documents.
In addition to its main purpose, the training has also helped to build trust between the Ministry, the State Service, certification bodies and key players in the organic sector.
This is a pilot training, and the project “German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture” plans to continue training on various topics in different regions of Ukraine.
