In December, the project "German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture" presented a translation of the manual "Conversion Period. Converting a farm to organic agriculture" from the Polish Environmental Club in Krakow.

The conversion period in organic agriculture is the stage when a farmer moves from conventional to organic farming, following the requirements of certification standards. Its duration depends on the history of the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the farm and can range from 12 to 36 months.

The manual addresses the challenges faced by the producer during the conversion period under the new EU regulation 848/2018, the calculation of the profitability of organic production, the specifics of a farm with crop and livestock production, as well as aspects of successful berry plantations.

The publication can be found here: https://dspace.organic-platform.org/xmlui/handle/data/701

The translation was prepared for the Organic Knowledge Platform Library, an online resource with educational and informational materials on organic production: https://organic-platform.org/

The translation was financed by the Project German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture. The project is implemented with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture.
